The intelligence of Michael Jackson...

Every so often I feature a personality of notable mention and influence. I chose Micheal Jackson because right now I am in a very transitional stage of thought where music and the music business is concerned. I have been studying the era of Motown and the renaissance of Berry Gordy, for he was the one who had signed Micheal and put him before the world. The unknown Micheal then was to become later one of the most famous men in the world.

'Off the Wall'...is my favorite Micheal Jackson album, but Micheal ascended from that masterpiece to what would later propel him to greatness - which was 'Thriller' and he indeed thrilled the world. Everyone knows who this man is, I would arguably say with absolute certainty that Micheal is perhaps one of the few people on earth who if he walked anywhere in the globe he would be mobbed by thousands of all colors, creeds and cultures and they would all listen to him; very few possess this kind of lightning rod power. He is a controversial figure and the stuff of tabloids in recent years...but his intelligence is what rarely shines through the many edited interviews I've seen. In this clip Micheal Jackson is being radio-interviewed by Jesse Jackson, and his views about Africa, about Holistic foods, his early years in the music business were all things that had shown me a well rounded intellect of sorts. Listen and see for yourself.

Fascinating. That's the best clip of MJ I've ever heard. He seems to have completely lost his African-American accent, I only heard one possible artifact of it when he said "I've been knowing Lionel...," which is dangerously close to "I be knowing Lionel..." He probably should have said "I've known Lionel..."

He's also dropped most of that whispery voice that he used in years past.

Here he sounds totally sincere and open. He's still name dropping, but he just doesn't know any better. Probably rather than feeling the need to impress by dropping names like Fred Astaire and Liz Taylor, it's just that stars are the only people he's ever known.
