Program or Be Programmed by Douglas Rushkoff

An author like Douglas Rushkoff has made some statements in the past about Judaism that I don't agree with; but from a social media and marketing standpoint he is quite brilliant, and I am capable of separating what I'd consider usable and discard other more polemic viewpoints of his. Program or Be Programmed by Douglas Rushkoff goes into the debate over whether the Net is good or bad for us. the argument is essentially beside the point: it's here; it's everywhere. The real question is, do we direct technology, or do we let ourselves be directed by it and those who have mastered it? "Choose the former," writes Rushkoff, "and you gain access to the control panel of civilization. Choose the latter, and it could be the last real choice you get to make." In ten chapters, composed of ten "commands" accompanied by original illustrations from comic artist Leland Purvis, Rushkoff provides cyberenthusiasts and technophobes alike with the guidelines to navigate this new universe.

You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.

The TEDx Program: Public Speaker, Civil Engineer Martin Burger -- Blue Energy

Via: bluenergy.com

There is a movement called "The TEDx program" which is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through experiences at the local level. TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis...Learn More!

Invited to speak was Martin Burger: Born of Cree heritage and raised in the Canadian sub-arctic, Mr. Burger worked as a diamond driller in the mining camps to put himself through college where he graduated with distinction with a diploma in civil engineering from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. Martin founded an ASC listed mining company in 1987 called Octan Resources Inc. He also played key roles in the success of two technology driven companies and in the development of several world-scale construction projects in the petrochemical energy and mining sectors. Mr. Burger collaborated with inventor Barry Davis in July of 1990 to develop and commercialize the Davis Hydro Turbine. Martin and his colleagues have evaluated over 400 innovation technology developments over the past 20 years and he brings an out of the box perspective, unwavering commitment, engineering and construction expertise.

I have an opinion for why sustainable renewable energy is a halted industry. You see....things are gonna get really bad before they get better...and when things become intolerable a new world order will be offered with all of the things that elitists could have given the world now...but instead the offer will come with world peace, world stability and in this engineer's words: "a world that is very abundant, very clean and very cheap' and this will give us a new state for humanity.

In Martin's words: "You can't push a solution before the quantum field is there that will facilitate that future" I dig that pragmatism!
