Micheal Jackson: The revolutionary!

R.I.P - It's been awhile since his passing away...some call it "murder"

And the more I look into his life the more I realize that real forces wouldn't have liked Micheal, and I understand him more now! I understand to some degree the pressure he must have had trying to cope with what was arrayed against him.

Canadian Pioneering in the Hip Hop Scene: TBTBT (Too Bad To Be True)

TBTBT - One Track Mind (CD Single) (Cold Chillin') (1993)

Toronto has made an imprint on the world with artists like Drake and Kardinal Offishall, but Toronto has a long tradition of pioneering artists who helped pave a little path for other's to follow. They're were others like TBTBT (Too bad to be True) on the Canadian musical scene; the Canadian arm of an American Iconic Rap Movement called "Cold Chillen" back in the 90's. Aww the 90's...they bring back some memories right? Well don't you ever wonder where these cats are now?

The Mainstream Version

R&B Vibe Remix (Cold Chillin) (1993) (Canadian R&B/Rap)

(Password for the download is: willforall)

One of the group's members from TBTBT grew up (and his name is 'Brother J') and his singing was featured on the hook of this Toronto Rap City favorite for awhile, arguably making this song (in the clip below) one of Point Blank's more popular songs at the time. I recently caught up with him (and he was age 13 back in 1993). We've spent a lot of time since...talking about the streets of his native Toronto, his current music and about him wanting to take a more assertive and active role in the way music is being represented from out of Canada, I guess we'll see what happens.

Sony - Music Sales, Gaming Sales suffer

And I was just bigging up the Sony Playstation2 over the old Xbox yesterday, for not needing an additional DVD controller like the Xbox did to operate its DVD feature for movie viewing...lol

Sony posted a whopping 95% decrease in profits last quarter compared to the same quarter last year. Gaming was the biggest disappointment down 97%, but music did its part to contribute to the downward spiral. Even when factoring out the expensive purchase of BMG's half of the former Sony BMG, music profits still declined 41%, driven by a 22% decrease in sales.

Ouch...I guess the layoffs are coming soon.
