When you've gotta start going to old skool jams, just so you can feel what the vibe used to feel like back in the day...you know you've either gotten old or your just plain bored with what's out there nowadays. It's not that Hip Hop is Dead...its just not as Fun anymore. But like a true fan of the music...I stay committed, and at age 29 I'm still a Hip Hop Head. I know I'm getting older, but I think I'll always be looking around the bend, searching for that next artist whose got the energy to change the game.
Below are some pictues that will take you through a panoramic view of the things that I remember about the 80's and 90's Era of Freshness. Hip Hop your the love of my life, and this shows you why...
Before the world's best golfer was Black
And way before a white rapper was in the top 3 best sellers.
This was all before Black rappers made money and cared about rims...
They were rocking these: Africa Medallions...

If you had one...it kinda said you were cool and maybe a little concious to about the struggle that existed not only just in Africa, but in the communities we lived in. DOPE!
Remember British Knight's????This was like back in 1989...
Mom got bothered until I got these...lol
Fresh...
P.S - L.A GEAR shoes were big for awhile to lol.
Yall might not remember Travel Fox...They were early 90's retro footwear
I remember the brothas in Scarborough sportin the fresh all red suede ones...
You'd eventually wanna get one of these. Rope Chains meant you were making that dough...a status symbol for real...lol
Patrick Ewing's were a staple in my hood...it was getting whack when brotha's were getting robbed for these. I'd put Jordan's up here to...but then I'd be up here all night uploading pictures...lol I'll get back to the kicks in a minute...besides I'm a nike head anyway so I haven't even scratched the surface...lol
People went nuts for this Brick Cell Phone...You'd see brotha's in their cars posing with their phones...lol...it's amazing to see just how common cell phones are now to people. To be honest...I still think a built in Car Phone is kinda sick...guess I'm just a 90's baby. lol
Kangol Hats...were part of the attire.
It's a toronto thang...but we liked the logo before it got changed...because there's nothing like that original Blue Jays Fitted...lol
Fresh...
I'll be making a Part 2 to this soon called "relics from my past"

word. I remember British Knights! But, in cali, BK also stood for "BLOOD KILLA," so, needless to say, Crips LOVED BKs! It was dangerous to wear them in a Blood 'hood.
That's nuts, and I'm sure an overwhelming majority of those in these cliques were the decendents of a people who were barred from lunch counters, buses, establishments on the basis of their color, only to turn around a few hundred years later and start shooting at each other over the color of their clothes and brand of shoe...it's ridiculous.
Here in Toronto people can wear whatever brand of shoe they want and not loose their life homie...atleast for now lol
