What goes on in the Shadows of Politics?

Now i'm not an overly religious person, but I do read to the satisfaction of my intellect, and this one particular bible passage had a resembling feeling to what is going on right now.

- 1 THESSALONIANS 5:3

"For when they shall say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child, and they shall not escape."

Watch Obama talk about a "Civilian National Security Force"

“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set,” he said: “We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.”

Hmm...

Should he be wanting to talk like this before he's fully president? because this sorta thing has been the talk of dictators right before they get elected. What would an able bodied super-power like America be wanting with an additonal task-force like this? The U.S. Army alone has nearly 500,000 troops, that's not counting the reserves or the National Guard. In 2007, the U.S. Defense budget was $439 billion. Is Obama serious about creating some kind of domestic security force just as strong and just as well funded as the Army?

Will this force take the place of Americorp? Maybe it will take the place of the National Guard or the Border Patrols? Will it become the modern day version of State Militias? Or will it be more along the lines of the German "Sturmabteilung" translated to mean Storm-troopers? Whose security will be protected and what kind of force will be required?

Naturally I have questions...BECAUSE this kinda shit gives me those gut-feelings that George Bush used to give me. Soooo, I looked into this Civilian National Security Force stuff and I dug up this name "Stephen Flynn".

It's his Idea!
Stephen Flynn
He sits on the Council on Foreign Relations, was a former adviser on homeland security for the U.S. Commission on National Security (Hart-Rudman Commission) and is a retired Coast Guard officer. He's also been an advisor to the Obama Campaign, which is probably how this concept ended up in Obama's speech.
Expertise: Catastrophic terrorism; emergency preparedness; critical infrastructure protection; trade and transportation security; and border control modernization.

Mr Flynn (whose idea this is) wanted to model this National Security Force after the Federal Reserve system, which wouldn't be all that popular if proposed right now under the current climate of corporate bailout. He has been writing papers on how Congress isn't capable of making the tough decisions that are necessary to protect the Homeland, and within that argument he would like to see Homeland Security unaccountable to the people and Congress just as the Federal Reserve system is currently.

JAMES MADISON
Founding Father & 4th President of the United States. A graduate of Princeton, and a student of history and government, well-read in law, and he participated in the framing of the Virginia Constitution in 1776.

HE SAID: "The management of foreign relations appears to be the most susceptible of abuse, of all the trusts committed to a government because they can be concealed or disclosed in such parts or at such times as will best suit particular views. Perhaps it is a universal truth that the loss of liberty at home is to be charged to provisions against danger, real or pretended from abroad".

But a National Security Force wouldn't be as effective without first implementing a "civilian disarmament".

But what about the lessons of KATRINA?

The Washington Post had this to say recently...

" The White House is working to enact a wide array of federal regulations, many of which would weaken government rules aimed at protecting consumers and the environment, before President Bush leaves office in January "

It also said: " The new rules would be among the most controversial deregulatory steps of the Bush era and could be difficult for his successor to undo "

What is Bush doing right before the President-Elect can take office?

The part that caught me most was this quote from the Washington Post article:

" In some cases, Bush's regulations reflect new interpretations of language in federal laws. In other cases, such as several new counterterrorism initiatives, they reflect new executive branch decisions in areas where Congress -- now out of session and focused on the elections -- left the president considerable discretion "

These are President Bush's eleventh-hour abuses...and Obama isnt CHANGING any of it.

Heh...this is me bringing it to you as real as I possibly can, your either awake or your still celebrating Obama's electoral landmark victory, while it did make me proud to see a racial barrier removed, it doesnt lull my conscience to sleep.

Because after all...a Politician is still a Politician lol.
