Hip Hop is the most beautiful Counter-Culture ever...
Counter-cultures are always spawned from the segment of the society that doesn't fit into the mainstream. Hip Hop has always been about the risk taker...the true rebels, the in your face non-compliant exuberance of inner city youth. It translated in fashion, dance and in every other facet of art that it touched. I was born in the golden era of Hip Hop, 1979, all throughout the 80's and 90's I watched while a culture grew up...sometimes you didn't like what you saw, sometimes you understood, it was just brazen attitude in tune with the times of youthful rebellion. History shows eventually those counter-cultures get bastardized by Corporate America in one way or another, good or bad, and lose their truth and innocence. Before that happened to Hip Hop...there were guys like Afrika Islam.
