LHC - Large Hadron Collider: What Man builds is astronomically amazing...

This big complex is supposed to give us answers about the Universe...

It's called the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) and I've blogged about it briefly before. This huge apparatus is supposed to shed complex light on new theories of particle physics, enabled by the LHC's extreme high rate of collisions due to its unprecedented energy (7 million times that of the first particle accelerator). Sub-atomic bullets will be beamed in opposite directions at 99.999% the speed of light around the subway's 27 kilometer circular path of 1,800+ super-conducting magnets which are super-cooled to 456.3 degrees below zero Fahrenheit (colder than the average temperature of outer space). The particles will melt into energy bits up to 100,000 times hotter than the sun's core...a similar state to the instant the universe first came into being.

The things that "WE" build blow my mind sometimes...is it really us or borrowed alien technology, are we really this smart now...will we turn around and use this knowledge to build another weapon? Whatever the LHC finds, or fails to find, the results will tell us a lot about the structure of the universe, that's mind boggling...
