Blackberry Application: called "Trapster" - Mobile GPS program that saves Speeders

Trapster is a free application that I downloaded onto my Blackberry. I liked it because it allows users to share information about police speed traps. Naturally I'm a driver, and this location based application was just as good as those old school police car radars that you used to mount in your car (which are illegal throughout most of North America now).

How does this Blackberry App work?

Users make the program more viable by clicking on a button in the app or by calling a toll-free number to report a speed trap. Other user's phones will alert them as they approach the trap, this happens on the second while your driving connected via mobile GPS. Trapster learns the "credibility" of police traps based on how many users agree with the report. Trapster also learns the credibility of each user, over time. It's like a social networking community for speed traps LOL...the people are using technology to alert others like themselves to slow down at impending speed traps.

As a user's rating or "karma score" goes up, traps are color-coded as green, yellow, or red, with red being the most certain. Real-time GPS capabilities in the iPhone and BlackBerry make Trapster functionality really cool, it even alerts you about red light cameras at certain intersections in advance. Trapster while your driving shows the user an animated visual display of traps as the user approaches them along with audio alerts.
