MSNBC anchor and talk radio host Carlos Watson, has assembled a team of writers and contributors to take the blogosphere head on. Watson’s newest venture, “The Stimulist“, which launched on Tuesday, is a news and opinion site aimed at what he labels “the change generation”, a young professional audience between the ages of 25 and 49.
“People in their 20s, 30s, and 40s—educated but edgy,” he says. “I don’t think of us as the same as the yuppies of 20 years ago. We are more down to earth, more digitally savvy, and more diverse.” I believe firmly that Barack Obama is not the culmination of change, but just the beginning of a bold new era. And that’s why TheStimulist is here: to chronicle the historic shifts we’re seeing everywhere from finance to media, to find what is different and better, and to constantly remind us that dramatic change is not only possible but vital.
With the understanding that new web properties can easily get lost in a sea of content sites, “The Stimulist” takes a different approach on news. Weary of the snarky liberal news that currently dominates the blogosphere, TheStimulist’s approach focuses on six daily features:
1) The List (a news roundup from national and international sources)
2) Kind of a Big Deal (a short profile of a truly fascinating person)
3) Resolved (a quick contemplation of some interesting or provocative idea)
4) Good Sh*t (a daily recommendation service)
5) Flashback (a historical anecdote that illumines some present-day issue)
6) The C Note, which will be Watson’s own daily online column.
Watson’s unique vision and content style is sure to make waves, and it doesn’t hurt that his Air America co-host is Arianna Huffington (founder of the Huffington Post).
