Grammy-Award winning Hip-Hop artist and actor T.I and his K.I.N.G. Foundation, LIFE Camp, Political Swagger Foundation, Rev. Al Sharpton & National Action Network and the C.H.A.N.G.E. initiative will host the RESPONSIBILITY IS A LIFESTYLE: It’s Time to Bury Da Beef Anti-Gun Violence Rally/Press Conference on Monday, May 11, 2009 at the National Action Network from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM. The Responsibility is a Lifestyle: It’s Time to Bury Da Beef is a response to the growing trend of gun and gang violence that plagues communities in the State of New York and areas across America; Grammy Award winner T.I. through his K.I.N.G Foundation continues to use his voice to encourage young people to accept responsibility as a lifestyle.

According to the official press release, a survey conducted by the Center for Disease Control revealed that an average of 16 youth per day are killed from senseless violence. Specifically, young people ages 10 – 24. In the past two weeks alone heinous crimes have struck our communities, including a 13-year old boy who was shot in the head as hundreds of teens gathered on a Harlem corner; a 17 and 19-year old male murdered in a double homicide in Queens, NY; and last Friday night, where a 15-year-old teen was chased, beaten, shot and burned in Chicago, IL. The Responsibility Is A Lifestyle: It’s Time to Bury Da Beef is being organized as a call to action to engage elected officials, community organizers, artists, and every American citizen to accept responsibility to build safer communities.
