I was on the Danforth (543 Danforth Ave) in Toronto earlier today and I came across a gem in the city that sells Indigenous Art from all across Africa, with a uniqueness to specific cultures that they trade with exclusively for items that you wouldn't typically find in a store of similar fashion. NHARO just seemed to carry items that were crafted, carved and woven by master artisans, and the quality spoke to me.



The customer service was phenomenal (her name was Irene) she was extremely friendly and rendered historical information about the pieces, there qualities and materials, I was impressed and enlightened about what I was buying.

You walk in and immediately you see this mother and child.



You step in and your eyes dart around the place, the art is phenomenal.



Almost Life Like Quality







The piece that interested me was a piece carved by the Shona of Zimbabwe, more specifically carved by an artisan named Gabriel Tigere Tandi of Zimbabwe, its made of Serpentine stone. She's made in the likeness of a Zulu Warrior, her head dress conveys a status. The material is a very hard stone that's confirmed to come from a 6 million year old quarry of mountain stone. It's absolutely phenomenal!

Candombe is the beat of Africa and it becomes Mainstream in Uruguay

Uruguay's Candombe: is a drum-based musical style rooted in African rhythms, and it was recognised as a cultural heritage by UNESCO recently. It was imported and practiced by slaves originally as a form of resistance and it was a method of communication among the slaves in the face of dangers, it has developed into a national tradition in Uruguay (that has a black population of 5% of the masses) that has evolved through time.



My spanish isn't the greatest, but I understood the essence of the video above, more or less there are differences between what original Candombe is and what it's being represented as in mainstream Uruguay (Kinda like how real hip hop differs from what one would hear on the radio lol). Let those who are of African descent in this video teach you the essence of there rhythm. When they finally play together in the end; the synchronization is really dope.

(Without a Telescope) How did the Dogon in Mali know about the Sirius star system?

The Dogon people of Mali, west Africa, preserve a tradition of contact which they pass down from generation to generation; and this information by way of initiation is said to have been given to them by intelligent extraterrestrial beings who come from the Sirius star-system. Far out right...?

These beings, who are hypothesized to have taught the arts of civilization to humans, are claimed by the Dogon to have originated the systems of the Pharaohs of Egypt, the mythologies of Greek civilization, the Epic of Gilgamesh, and so on.

These claims have been scholarly researched in the works of various ethnographers like Marcel Griaule and Germaine Dieterlen to name but a few. A substantial bulk of there scholarship explores "The Sirius Mystery" using comparative linguistic and mythological sources, pointing out resemblances among the Dogon, Egyptian and Sumerian beliefs and symbols.



The “mystery” beckons the question: how did the Dogon come to acquire knowledge of the star "Sirius B" which is the invisible companion star of Sirius A. If you believe as they believe...then you would believe that the Dogon Tribe obtained accurate information on Sirius B by contact with an advanced civilization.

I have often wondered why we have not been able to find evidence of another more ancient and more advanced civilization that was behind the sudden appearance of advanced civilizations like Egypt and Sumeria. Where did all of this cosmological and architectural knowledge come from? Could it have come from angelic beings, or extraterrestrials whom the ancients would have regarded as Gods worthy of worship?

WHAT ARE THE TEACHINGS OF THE DOGON?

Let us study there "Cosmogony" which is an astrophysical study of the origin and evolution of the universe. (In other words it is a specific theory or model of how things began, below is a video of that very model).



Another good video to watch is: The Dogon Code, Linking Egypt and West Africa (on YouTube in 4 parts, based on the works from an author named Laird Scranton and his book: "Hidden Meanings". Scranton explains how the Dogon tribe in West Africa originated Egyptian symbolism, philosophy, physics and even modern science.

African Architectural Knowledge: A picture I took in Downtown Toronto

African Ancestral Knowledge is all around us; this is a picture I took while driving by an Obelisk, built outside the police headquarters, in downtown Toronto. It shows you a little boy pulling the Obelisk in a cart (this could mean the "new age" or the "new man" represented here as the child whose history isn't as old as the object he's pulling in the cart. The Obelisk is taken from Ancient Egypt; it was designed during the enlightenment-era association of Egypt with mortuary arts, (and generally with great antiquity), obelisks became associated with timelessness and memorialization.

I thought it was cool!
