In 2008 there was a forward thrust in Hip Hop music, albums from Young Jeezy, Nas, T.I., Common, Ice Cube, and a different Kanye West. Above all of that this was the year in which I lived to see America elect its first Black President - Barack Obama.
BOOOOOOOM! The World went nuts...lol

Best Album of the year (I'm biased) Lupe Fiasco "The Cool"

I'm a Hip Hop enthusiast, I'm 30 years old and nothing resonated with me musically in Hip Hop more than Lupe Fiasco. I know yall are saying Lil Wayne, Kanye or T.I, and they all did have strong albums, but i'm still going with Lupe. I really think alot of people overlooked the brilliance of Lupe's album. I'll give an honorable mention to Lil Wayne...he sold brilliantly making him a force in the game.
The Best US Artist - Kanye West (again I'm biased)

He's the most prolific and creative, his music has gone up against the strongest in any genre on the billboard charts and he has always prevailed. Kanye is holding up Hip Hop music...and you can disagree if you want, but his record is shattering previously held opinions.
