Diddy Talks about his Stint As An "Unsuccessful" Drug Dealer

Via: hiphopwired.com

For Diddy it may have been all about the Benjamins but it wasn't by any means necessary. In his interview with Playboy, he revealed how almost getting popped made him reconsider his “Frank White” and King Of New York dreams.

"Some of my friends were selling drugs in the Maryland and (Washington) D.C. area. I remember them having all this jewelry and new BMWs. I was eating ramen noodles, stealing from the 7-Eleven to get some food. I thought, 'I need to get some money like y'all have.' So I go out on the block, the strip where they're selling drugs, and my man says, 'OK, I'm going to give you this. You wait there. They'll come up to you.'

I'm out there five minutes when three cop cars pull up and officers jump out and start chasing me. I ran and got away. We reconvene in the same place two hours later. This time it's dark, and all of a sudden a van pulls up. Cops jump out and start chasing me again. There's a helicopter overhead with a light following me through the woods.”

Dirty Money: "Came from heaven just to sing a song for you"

Statue of a Fallen Angel, in Retiro Park (Madrid, Spain).

Diddy in the song: "I will tell the angels now, let them turn back in to stone"

Diddy attempts to describe DIRTY MONEY's New Single "Angels" but he doesn't describe it the way I see it. Personally I think the song is sonically dope (that means it sounds good). Upon closer inspection though; the lyrics don't really make a lot of sense, because it's different narratives spoken by different people at different times - that it's almost schizophrenic in a way.

The theme of this song is about 'the angels'. The video makes that clear...and since the group is called "Dirty Money" then you can only conclude that it must be about the 'fallen angels' and not the good ones.

----

Chorus: Diddy/Dawn (My Interpretation)

If you don't wanna stay you can go
(God speaking to Lucifer before casting him out)

It seems like love don't live here no more
(Lucifer not feeling like he belongs within the ranks of the angels anymore)

the angels are flying so low, singing to you (don't you hear me callin you)
(this is Lucifer and the angels flying low and seeing the daughters of men and calling for them)

he's the one you love (cause i hear them callin me)
and he's the one you trust (now that time is almost through)
time is runnin out (there's nothin left to do)
when they're callin you
When the angels call like (i answer)

----

Doesn't this all sound like a demon possession, like when a person is talking to themselves as if they are hearing voices. It's all very eerie actually, considering that the song was released on 9/9/09 (flip those numbers around...lol)

Diddy: and his newest super-group "DIRTY MONEY"

Dirty Money (Diddy, Kaleena, and Dawn)

“Dirty Money is not about no drug money, illegal money, or anything negative,” Combs explained. “Dirty Money is a look, a sound, a movement, [and] a crew. For my new album Last Train to Paris, I wanted to do something refreshing, something unique, something forward for myself as an artist…I’m a team player. I wanted to tell a love story…I couldn’t just tell the male’s point of view.” The concept LP will detail the story of a man’s (Diddy) tumultuous relationship with a woman whom is presented as his soulmate. As a student of history, Combs further detailed that he wanted to maintain the feel of previous groups, but also add his own distinct twist.

“I grew up listening to groups like Soul II Soul, Loose Ends, and it was always two guys and a girl. So let me flip it,” Diddy stated. “Let me get two talented, bad divas to the left and the right of me.”
