The Power of Breathing: Eastern Mystics call it "Chi" or Pranayama (Energy)

A Link to: Pranayama

So long as we continue to view things through our own behavioral and cultural lens, we will always withhold from ourselves a knowledge that could be attained from other cultures more ancient than our own. In order for this to happen we have to remove certain stereotypes from our minds, and root out the deeper meanings without passing a judgment. Information like the kind you are about to see was common knowledge to humans once upon a time, but now it's been all but virtually forgotten by the majority of people.

The man in the video below is a wise teacher; his name is Swami Sundaranand and he is one of the last great hard-core Yogis who lives in Gangotri (in the Himalayas) on the Sacred River Ganges. To meet with this man you would have to seek him out, and when watching this video I could tell that he speaks to many foreigners; judging by his basic command of the English language. This video is the first stage of a practice called Pranayama (the power of your being is realized when you are taught the correct breathing and posturing techniques).

What this man is saying is very real but can only be understood through practice, and it's very easy to go a whole lifetime without an "eye opening" experience. Social dogma and monotonous religious conditioning have done a good job at keeping people from their potential. Get past the man's accent and his funny looking garb and really try to listen, and you will have taken a significant step towards enlightenment and self improvement.

Fencing: A sport I wanna start practicing...

Via: dragonfencing.com

(Kendo Fencing, Japanese Style)

I've always had a respect for the art of fencing. I used to always watch old movies where the dukes, barons or knights of old would duel over a maiden or for the sake of someone's honor and I always used to think about how cool sword fighting was (I don't know maybe it's a guy thing; although fencing has popularized rapidly recreationally among females as well). I like European styled fencing although I've learned that some places teach you fencing along with another style that is more Japanese then European called Kendo Fencing.

It originally was propagated as a discipline for warriors and took its current form from around the middle of the Edo Period (1603-1867). In a kendo match, the two combatants wear protective outfits resembling armor (yoroi) and attack with bamboo swords. They score points by hitting their opponent's head, trunk, forearms or charging at their throat with the bamboo sword. The match lasts no more than five minutes and the winner is the first to score two out of three points. Kendo is well known overseas as a sport that can discipline mind and body.

(In traditional fencing there are 3 kinds of swords/foils)

In the Olympic Games, the foil, the épée and the saber are used by both men and women. The Saber is a thrusting, cutting and slicing weapon whose blade is usually curved and sharp on one side only; its maximum weight is 1.1 lb, the same as that of the foil. The Foil is a lightweight thrusting weapon (maximum weight of 1.1 lb) with a flexible blade whose cross section is square or rectangular. The Epee is a thrusting weapon with a tapered blade whose cross section is a triangle; it is more rigid and heavier than a foil, weighing up to 1.7 lb.

I'm excited about taking lessons in these disciplines...because sword study, (atleast as percieved in the eastern way of Bushido), is not an accomplishment that ends with the last lesson you recieve. It is a way of life.

A Workout called P 90 X - I will train for 6 months...

Officially it starts...

I challenged this Chump at work to a boxing match in 6 months, and I intend to win unanimously and convincingly. I've got 6 months to train, I think we're even gonna sell tickets within the City of Toronto to generate interest, whether we do or whether we don't, it doesnt matter...I will get into the ring in 6 months and knock this chump out...lol (Sorry Walter). I'll be using my 6 months wisely...the first few months will be strength training and getting cut physically with a workout called P90X...it's what all of these celebs are using to get results in the most painfully quick way...lol. And then...its on to the boxing training...everyone thinks they can throw a pretty decent punch, but I intend on throwing that decisive punch, that very accurate punch...so wish me luck...my training starts now.

A video of where I hope to be in 3 months and beyond...
