50 Cent Talks about his newest Mixtape - Forever King

Download: Mixtape - Forever King

50 Cent is definitely up on everything. He looks at the Internet just like everybody else. Sitting in his New York office Thursday (July 2), 50 was looking at the Drake video, refusing to watch Game’s apology to the G-Unit on MTV News.com and answering calls from Leonardo DiCaprio’s camp for a dinner with the movie star. He was originally going to call his latest mixtape Sincerely Yours: Southside Part 2, and on it he planned to rap over ’90s R&B classics. But in the end he decided to throw in some additional flavor with his throwback stylings. The cover of the tape features 50’s face digitally imposed with an iced-out skull.

“When Michael Jackson passed, there was a piece of artwork that had ‘King of Pop, King of Rap’ with me and his pictures. That’s what gave me the concept of the artwork.” There’s a real human skull that’s got diamonds embedded in it,” he said. “I saw the photo in Dubai. It’s an artifact, it’s priceless. We used the effect to make it feel like it’s a skull inside my face. And the Yankee hat would be my crown.”

50 Cent says there’s no comparison between Drake and him

Via: complex.com

Earlier this week, 50 Cent hosted a press event in NYC to announce the launch of his new fragrance, Power by Fifty Cent, that releases exclusively at Macy’s this November. After going in on the appetizers (thanks Curtis!). COMPLEX got a few minutes to sit down with the entrepreneur and talk about about his new business venture, amongst other things. Read on to see how 50 feels about cologne competition with Jay-Z and Diddy and his thoughts on the comparisons between his and Drake’s mixtape buzz…

"I think there’s no comparison between Drake and 50 Cent as artists. He has momentum right now. Great momentum. He has a record on the radio and hasn’t signed a deal. That’s the comparison. But there’s obviously a difference in the type of music and the significance in being able to create aggressive content and have it go that far as opposed to making the record that Drake has on the radio. I sit in front of you as someone who’s received 16 Grammy nominations and I have no trophies, because I chose to write the harsh realities. I stayed true to myself and I’ve taken a little beating behind it. I still have the largest debuting album to date. So if Drake can continue to do what he’s doing now he could potentially have one of the largest debuting albums. I wish him the best."

50 Cent is Feeling Uninspired By Hip Hop: What will he do?

Via: Billboard

50 Cent has revealed that he is feeling uninspired by the current state of Hip Hop. Speaking to Billboard, the rapper explained that artists within the genre are not being creative.

“What I fell in love with and inspired me to get into hip-hop is dwindling away. I’d like to be a representation of that, because there isn’t much of that left. I think people are so conscious of the numbers they’re not being creative anymore.” 50 has set his sights on the Latin market by collaborating with reggaetón duo Wisin & Yandel for the track ”Mujeres En El Club”. The Queen’s rapper also chose to promote the song and feature it on his website.

“I’ve received nothing but positive feedback on this collaboration. And it’s a surprise because it’s playing in a space where you wouldn’t traditionally hear 50 Cent. It’s exciting and it’s a whole new charge of energy for the person that is tuning in.”
