According to a statement made by DJ Premier on his Sirius XM satellite radio show, 'Live From HeadQCourterz,' hip-hop legend DJ Kool Herc has been hospitalized and is in need of financial support. While there's no specific details on Herc's illness, Premier claims that the hip-hop veteran's condition is deteriorating, and that he's without medical insurance.

"Kool Herc is very sick," Premier revealed. "For those that know about Hip-Hop, who we call the father of Hip-Hop, Kool Herc, is not doing well. It's funny how we have a father of a culture that still lives, where as in some cultures they are dead and gone even though they may still be worshipped or reflected on in some kind of way.

The father of perhaps one of the wealthiest musical genre's is in distress, and this should be a wake up call to all and any who've profited from the genius of this musical inventor. If just on principle alone, the richest rappers should all pawn a diamond chain and contribute to the wellness of DJ Kool Herc.

50 Cent is Feeling Uninspired By Hip Hop: What will he do?

50 Cent has revealed that he is feeling uninspired by the current state of Hip Hop. Speaking to Billboard, the rapper explained that artists within the genre are not being creative.

“What I fell in love with and inspired me to get into hip-hop is dwindling away. I’d like to be a representation of that, because there isn’t much of that left. I think people are so conscious of the numbers they’re not being creative anymore.” 50 has set his sights on the Latin market by collaborating with reggaetón duo Wisin & Yandel for the track ”Mujeres En El Club”. The Queen’s rapper also chose to promote the song and feature it on his website.

“I’ve received nothing but positive feedback on this collaboration. And it’s a surprise because it’s playing in a space where you wouldn’t traditionally hear 50 Cent. It’s exciting and it’s a whole new charge of energy for the person that is tuning in.”
