We worked incredibly hard on this project, this is the 2nd video from Toronto Rapper SepTo, as he gets on the Adam Bomb and Tona joint called "No More" for 32 bars of flow, wordplay and metaphors, incredibly dope!!! (Rich Kidd on the original production, he makes incredible beats)
Sep: "I feel like filming a video of me killing you, then viewing it for the niggaz that live with you in your living room ... Biggie sample: All you heard was pappa don't hit me "NO MORE"
Off of Sep's "Allergy Pills and Alcohol" [Available Now] Directed by the amazing Andre Rehal [AndreRehal.Com]

Intelligent Hoodlum (Tragedy Khadafi) was a (Five Percenter) Black Muslim rapper from the Queens Bridge projects. His debut self titled album was produced entirely by Queens natives Marly Marl & Large Professor. His pro black message was dominant throughout his first two releases on A&M/Polygram Records (then they change lol but that's corporate pressure).
The song utilizes the James Brown "Say it loud, I'm Black and I'm Proud" sample. In the mid- nineties Intelligent Hoodlum later changed his name to Tragedy Khadafi when he appeared on Capone & Noreaga's debut "War Report."
Rap will never be like this again...

The God Sadat X, sits down with Da Beatminerz (Dj Evil Dee and company) discusses hip hop and a variety of subjects over some good wine and food. This is a view of what maturity among hip hop peers looks like. We personally at I AM IN DEMAND commend this showing of comradery, sociability and this sign of togetherness among artists and producers who are legends in this game.

Donations for Kool Herc can be sent to: Kool Herc Production P.O. Box 20472, Huntington Station, NY 11746.
According to a statement made by DJ Premier on his Sirius XM satellite radio show, 'Live From HeadQCourterz,' hip-hop legend DJ Kool Herc has been hospitalized and is in need of financial support. While there's no specific details on Herc's illness, Premier claims that the hip-hop veteran's condition is deteriorating, and that he's without medical insurance.
"Kool Herc is very sick," Premier revealed. "For those that know about Hip-Hop, who we call the father of Hip-Hop, Kool Herc, is not doing well. It's funny how we have a father of a culture that still lives, where as in some cultures they are dead and gone even though they may still be worshipped or reflected on in some kind of way.
(Get Better Kool Herc)
The father of perhaps one of the wealthiest musical genre's is in distress, and this should be a wake up call to all and any who've profited from the genius of this musical inventor. If just on principle alone, the richest rappers should all pawn a diamond chain and contribute to the wellness of DJ Kool Herc.

I remember growing up while these guys were a fixture in hip hop movies...there dance moves were made world famous. Kid and Play made the high top fades popular to.
Hip Hop was so rebellious but it had a message...if you really listened...nowadays rappers are just whores for that gucci and that Louie shit...materialism is cool...I want things to and I work hard for it...but where's the message? it kinda got lost along the way. They tell; get with it Malik...Hip Hop grew up...but I think it grew retarded...I think it's just a spoiled brat with more money, save but a few who still got the lyrical skill.
Anyway...I love this beat...and it's probably my favorite Onyx song!
Canadian Hip Hop has been under a sort of Canadian apartheid when it comes to the genre of Rap Music; it's infancy had seen more struggles then it would have liked to endure. Toronto above all I would argue has been the Mecca of Canadian Hip Hop exporting personalities that have tried to live up to affable expectations.
Michie Mee
At various points along the way, it seemed as if certain artists were being groomed for a mainstream career of Drake proportions; but like watching the Toronto Raptors lose in a playoff run, our chance would never quite happen as many would have expected it to. So, I thought I'd take the liberty of trying to show my viewers some of the many attempts on the part of Canadian Hip Hop to break from the meager status of not being known.
Maestro Fresh Wes
1) - MCJ and Cool G
The first Canadian rappers to get a full-fledged major record company push, straight outta Halifax. Their label Capitol Records was flush with the success of MC Hammer at the time and they were to be the Canadian counter-part (Didn't quite work that way). And you can always tell that the people at some of these label's don't know what there talking about; they branded this group “Double R&B” — which was to stand for rap, rhythm and blues. MCJ was the rapper, Cool G was the singer.
2) - Kish
Kish whose name is Andrew Kishino (was often mistaken for a white rapper) but he's actually of Japanese descent — and now has a career in Hollywood doing voices for animation, video games, and commercials (definitely the smarter route to take in today's fledgling world of music sales). At the time of his Canadian debut he was a Canadian pop star, product of A&M Records and his most memorable work/album was called 'Order From Chaos'.
3) - Organized Rhyme
This group had four minutes of real fame when they came out with a video called "Check the O.R". Just 3 guys from Canada's capital city (Ottawa) who took a pilgrimage to a Toronto neighborhood called Jane and Finch, to win over the more urban natives. The group disbanded and the O.R.’s DJ went back to his native Ottawa to work in Computers.
4) - TBTBT (Too Bad to Be True)
TBTBT was the Canadian counter-part to American similarities, groups like ABC and Kris Kross, a fusion of singing and rapping that was seam stressed together by Warner Bros and rap label Cold Chillin’ Records which was centered around legendary producer Marley Marl. This group is another example of how American conglomerates came north of the border seeking talent but would undoubtedly string them through the machine of one hit wonderment. There music played to some fan-fare in the UK and got commercial air-play in Canada for their one hit "One Track Mind" which won them a Juno-Award. When I think of this young group I am reminded of just how easily one can come to success in this music business, and yet elusively it can still be so far away.
One of it's members, a singer named Brother J is currently working on newer material and his musical resurgence is being constructed in the weeks and months to come via our management company (I AM IN DEMAND MANAGEMENT).
5) - Dream Warriors
Dream Warriors consisted of King Lou, Capital Q and Spek — they were part of that Island Records machine in the U.K and I remember them having a a good momentum for a time, TV and Radio blasted there tunes for a few years but something got lost along the way, the formula didn't seem to work and now one of the group's members (Spek) currently resides in Dubai. It's just funny how you can have this popping career one day and the next day your fishing somewhere in some remote country lol.
6) - Ghetto Concept
Ghetto Concept was a crew from Rexdale (Toronto) and they were one of the dopest to me; and among the few whose sound that I liked from Canada. Anything would have been hard to break out in an era dominated by Rap Groups like Wu Tang Clan at the time, and this group was marred by it's own obstacles and hardships that impeded their progress. Once again, it was like a star that couldn't quite rise above the horizon. The video below entitled “Krazy World” provides a fantastic time capsule of what mid-’90s Toronto rap felt and looked like. I wished these guys blew the fuck up...
7) - Choclair
Choclair: The artist born in Scarborough as Kareem Blake was the golden boy when his album Ice Cold sold 50,000 copies in November 1999 via Virgin Music Canada, and an American deal with Priority Records earned him a coveted endorsement from rap mogul Master P. Kardinal Offishall is arguably the more famous of the crew given his more recent successes with Akon but no one can deny that Choclair garnered attention for Canada from many American counterparts and continues to work on his craft.
8) - Grimace Love
Toronto MC Grimace Love, aka. the General of the legendary Monolith crew. This MC is a personal mentor of Hip Hop History to me and he's someone I'm currently working closely with. His history in the rap game is well documented and his craft is continuous and still relevant (to me). As far as rap acts go these days this artist isn't fading into obscurity marred by troubles and tribulations.
Grimace says: "I remember back in the day, you could count the good rhymers on your hands. Today, I hear about sick cats all the time, young cats, older cats from all across the GTA. So definitely, the artist base and the skill base is on the rise. Artists have also taken it upon themselves to get their business skills in check. Instead of waiting for labels to find them they started there own. All big changes over the years."
In that same vein...he hismelf has started a label called Whole Wheat Brothers Music of which I am a part, and this is his newest video out to date entitled "Grimstone"
"Who Is Sep" Volume 0.5(Slated for an August 1st, 2010 Release) will be a mixtape compilation of original songs and dub-plates from popular instrumentals which will generate interest in Sep's upcoming album quality mixtape entitled by the same name "Who is Sep" Volume 1 (That release date is: Sept, 11, 2010). His September mixtape release will contain features from prominent Hip Hop artists of notable mention both legendary and current.
If you click on Who Is Sep.Com you can see the snippet from a Music Video Directed by Andre Rehal entitled "Dot City".
A brand new video from Theology 3 called “How I Flow Part 2″. It's a single featuring two Toronto artists of great talent, Tona and Andreena Mill. The song is produced by Grammy nominated producer Boi-1da. The song will appear on his upcoming album Airplane Over One Way Streets.

Lately I've been reading all about human history and about how the greatest eras in human advancement always occurred during times when there was Matriarchal power in the world, female rulers instituted balance and harmony within there societies from time immemorial. Fittingly within the scope of Canadian Rap Music, a female by the name of Michie Mee became, in 1988, the first Canadian rapper to sign a deal with an American record label. She was the push that set a mark in what is now a blossoming hip hop industry in Canada.
Above is the cover art for an album entitled: Jamaican Funk - Canadian Style, by Michie Mee - released May 14, 1991 (And that's just a little Canadian Hip Hop History) from an era when putting out Hip Hop music in Canada was hard for rap artists...LIKE REALLY HARD.
So I try to know Tradition...to remember those who paved the way.
I came by way of this news through DJ PREMIER'S BLOG, and I just wanna say for the record (R.I.P. to Guru and L.I.P. (Live in Peace) to DJ Premier, because if it weren't for those two men the Hip Hop/Jazz Genre may never have rose to the heights that it did in the mid 80's and that birthed the jazz influences in hip hop throughout the 90's.
Many of the legendary groups that dominated 90's Hip Hop had fall outs and differences of opinion, it was the trend of a changing music industry where some would say it went from great music to worse; and the politics that strangled rap music evidently did the same to the group that so many loved called Gang Starr. I look at these occurrences in music not with sadness but with an awakened optimism; for they are the lessons left for me to learn, and Guru was and is the right kind of example to learn from.
Th scandal that's ensued between the various parties all vying for control of who get's to handle Guru's affairs is the right of no one else but Guru (who made a choice by choosing that person to be his 7 year friend and producer Solar, probably his right of attorney in all legal matters). I respect Guru's decision, but I don't respect all of Solar's decisions to date. I applaud DJ Premier for posting up the information that has informed fans even if the official letter written by Guru's hand doesn't speak that favorably of DJ Premier (it shows class and respect on his part).
There has been a lot of confusion as to how Guru would have been able to write a letter given his condition at the time of Guru's final statement (some even suspect malicious tampering and manipulation by his current producer Solar). Regardless of whatever version of the story you want to ascribe to, one thing is for certain, Guru is now freed from the suffering that came as a result of the Cancer that he contracted; and for that at least his fans are grateful. May his music live in the hearts and minds of those who truly honored his style of Hip Hop, and maybe because of him in some small way Hip Hop is still not dead. I will endeavor to do my part to keep it alive also through the works of my movement I AM IN DEMAND.COM.
It was loads of fun shooting this Video with one of my now favorite Director's to work with...Andre Rehal...because I'm a witness first hand of his directional and artistic vision, piecing together wonderfully, a video that you will all get to see very soon. It's currently being edited to a newer version of the song; that will be available for download along with the release of the new video itself. Stay tuned...because all of what your seeing was "Almost NeVr" if people of vision hadn't gotten together and made things happen.
"Sep" was featured in a showcase for Emerging URBAN Artists called: "Follow Your Instinct!" it takes place on the last Thursday of Every Month inside Harlem Restaurant - which is at 67 Richmond Street E. in Downtown Toronto; and it's hosted by Toronto's own, Flow 93.5's Real Frequency Show DJ Musiklee Inzane.
So make sure you come see our artist named Sep (and the many other performances) this Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Harlem Restaurant, 67 Richmond St. E. Toronto. Sep's performance will be backed by a 4-piece band called “The Movement Band”.
Legendary Rapper Keith "Guru" Elam, from the legendary rap duo "Gangstarr" is reported to have had a cardiac arrest and then shortly afterwards fell into a coma; and now he's in surgery according to Twitter. I AM IN DEMAND.COM is praying for him and his family...and we pray he come out of this ordeal in full standing order. I personally loved a lot of his albums, I even frequented shows where Gangstarr would perform and I can say with absolute certainty that Guru is one of my all time favorite lyricists, I'd hate to see an early unfortunate occurrence of any negative nature befall him.
Below: is a video featuring Brandford Marsalis & Terence Blanchard; theme from the Spike Lee directed motion picture Mo' Better Blues called "Jazz Thing" which contained the very sound that Gangstarr was famous for and the sound that it pioneered in Hip Hop.
