The Blackberry Device has come a long way (Research in Motion, last 10 yrs)

Blackberry has come a long way since the days of that phone pictured above. The people at Blackberry knew how to build an electronic organizer that does what it says it's going to do, keeps your information in sync with your PC, runs for forever and a day on a single set of batteries, and does it all with a minimum of fuss; the result was - people fell in love.

It spawned a continuation of brilliance in innovative design...

Wind Mobile: Ready to Launch New Cellphone Company in Canada!

Via: windmobile.ca

Every time I stop into my local Blockbuster (here in the Toronto area) I always see a small section dedicated to a new phone company called Wind Mobile. However, because of a ruling by the Canadian Government stating that the company "didn't meet Canadian ownership and control requirements" they couldn't start selling their phones to the public ... until now.

After a few months of appealing, the Canadian government finally approved the request and Wind Mobile (owned by Globalive Wireless) is now officially a new competitor in the Canadian market with a new cellphone network that could launch as early as Monday! CEO Ken Campbell stated that "The objective is to have quite a few Wind mobiles under Christmas trees".

Wind Mobile CEO Ken Campbell and Anthony Lacavera, chairman of Globalive and Wind Mobile, announced the company’s Canadian entrance Fri. Dec. 11.

It looks like Bell, Rogers and Telus finally have some new competition! Wind Mobile will be offering smartphones from HTC, Samsung and Blackberry. Since they already have national and international roaming agreements, as well as lots of cellphones, It looks like Wind Mobile is all set to enter the market! If you live in Calgary or Toronto, they already have a small list of Blockbusters where you will be able to find a selection of phones.

Scientists Predict: "Predictive Texting" Turning Kids Into Fast-Thinking Idiots

Via: gizmodo.com

A study published in the Journal of Bioelectromagnetics, says that children aged 11 to 14 abusing predictive texting in cellphones are turning into fast-thinking idiots. Sounds about right. Of course, lead researcher Professor Abramson doesn't say it exactly that way:

The kids who used their phones a lot were faster on some of the tests, but were less accurate. We suspect that using mobile phones a lot, particularly tools like predictive texts for SMS, is training them to be fast but inaccurate. Their brains are still developing so if there are effects then potentially it could have effects down the line, especially given that the exposure is now almost universal. The use of mobile phones is changing the way children learn and pushing them to become more impulsive in the way they behave.
