Mel Gibson: First Jews, Now Blacks...Will you forgive him?

I don't usually blog about celebrity gossip, but this guy doesn't know how to filter what's appropriate from what's not. I don't happen to think that Mel Gibson has an actual deep seeded hatred for all blacks; but I do think that he suffers from the idea that "his kind" are remotely better than others and it come's out in his fits of rage.

This comment by him was made within a certain context; he is currently in a custody dispute with his now ex-girlfriend, and this recording of him all of a sudden just happens to pop up...hmmm...sounds like she knew he gets mad and blurts out nonsense and thought why not catch him in the act of saying something derogatory.

Mel Gibson: You look like a f***ing pig in heat, and if you get raped by a pack of n***ers, it will be your fault.”

Tiger’s father Earl Woods is quoted to have warned Tiger about marriage

Via: nytimes.com

Earl Woods: "I’ve told Tiger that marriage is unnecessary in a mobile society like ours.”. Tiger Woods’s parenting role model was his father, Earl, who was committed to rearing him after having two sons and a daughter in a failed first marriage. Earl, a retired Army officer, attributed the divorce to military obligations that took him away from the family.

They Say: Beyonce Spent 11 grand in one swoop.

Apparently Beyonce went shopping at Patricia Fields the other day, and she spent $11,000.00 in just 20 minutes. I say so what...I almost spent that much in FIVE minutes at a Car dealership once...lol. Why do people gossip about this kind of stuff? (Admittingly...I posted it for the viral internet traffic it would generate for my blog...lol). But I'm very much against Rich-people bashing...lol.

Rihanna takes back Chris Brown - It's been 3 weeks since...

Story Via: People Magazine

“They’re together again. They care for each other,” according to People Magazine. The on-again couple are currently spending time together at one of Sean “Diddy” Combs’s homes, on Miami Beach's Star Island. The case againt Brown has not yet been presented to the District Attorney, who will ultimately determine which charges, if any, will be prosecuted.

Diddy's Star Island mansion in Miami Beach, valued at $14.5 Million. This two-story home which was previously owned by famed music industry mogul Tommy Mottolla, offers nine bedrooms, twelve bathrooms, a swimming pool, boat dock, and over 19,500 square feet of space (hopefully it offers them peace of mind).

A clip showing Chris Brown speaking about domestic violence

People ask me if I blog for me...or if I blog for the people...and I think it's a little bit of both...I obviously want that viral Internet traffic coming my way - so I post things that are mainstream fanfare, but alot of the controversial stuff you see me posting on this site is more for entertainment value or a good laugh, because I really don't watch television all that much. So you can imagine how surpised I was to come across this clip of Chris Brown talking about domestic violence on Tyra Banks show...the irony is so funny.

50 Cent is re-inventing the way you beef with rappers and now DJ's

I was gonna really put this 50 cent and Rick Ross thing to rest, like it was funny for a minute...but shit...50 really is going to war with DJ Khaled who backs Rick Ross in the beef against 50 cent. 50's Camera crews visited the workplace of DJ Khaled's mom and took pictures of her residence. This clip is a new level in rap-beef, and 50's marketing has taken a jaded twist down another road with this one, whoa...lol.

The Grammy’s - Chris Brown Arrested, Rihanna No Show?

Rihanna and Chris Brown at the Pre-Grammys

The only things confirmed...

Chris Brown (this boy is like 19 yrs old) turned himself in to Police. He was booked at 7.41 pm in L.A with a $50k bond for bail. Rihanna has checked herself out of hospital. Confusing reports have been coming out of Rihanna’s camp. At first it was said that the couple were in a car accident. And then a statement came out from Rihanna’s publicist saying that she was ‘fine’ and that she thanked her fans for their concern. More will be revealed as it comes through to me, and I hope he hasn't hit her as rumors would have us believe. More...as the news comes in.

Whitney Houston - Triumphant Again

Honoring her mentor Clive Davis

Via: NEWSWEEK:

A stunning-looking and strong-sounding Whitney Houston made a triumphant return to the stage at a pre-Grammy party honoring her mentor, music mogul Clive Davis. “I’ve got it, I’ve got it!” Houston, looking glamorous in a skintight leopard dress, sang early Sunday morning as she belted a line from one of her classic hits, “I’m Every Woman.” But more than a lyric, it summarized to the crowd of A-list superstars and top industry execs that the superstar — whose drug use and erratic behavior had caused a shocking fall from grace just a few years ago — was back in top form.

Clive Davis: The music mogul who founded labels, signed greats ranging from Houston to Bruce Springsteen to Janis Joplin, and resuscitated the careers of veterans like Rod Stewart and Carlos Santana, was honored by the Recording Academy as an industry icon on Saturday, hours before Sunday’s Grammys. For nearly three decades, Davis’ pre-Grammy party and concert had become one of the industry’s most coveted invites; this year, the Recording Academy took the event over and honored Davis instead.

The 45-year-old Houston is one of the best-selling artists of all time and among the greatest singers, hasn’t made an album since 2002. She sank due to drug use and a tumultuous personal life — a far cry from the princess image she cultivated since her debut in the 1980s. But the singer is expected to release an album sometime this year, and unlike other reported returns, this comeback seems to be the real deal.

My Favorite Whitney Moment...

When she sang the Star Spangled Banner at Superbowl XXV. I think it may be the best version of the anthem I've ever heard, with such soaring power and melodic depth. Click to watch it on YouTube

The Music Bidness...lol

Times are changing fast...

I keep getting asked..So...these are some of my views on the music industry.

1. The music industry does NOT like to change.

2. The music industry ISN'T an innovator, they have tried (a few times) to follow WHAT OTHERS have done, and they couldn't do it.

3. Copy protection, COST'S THEM MONEY. They haven't gotten the idea through their head THAT savings could be past on to the consumer, and that they would MAKE LOTS MORE MONEY if they did so. Kill some of your Lawyers, Kill the Digital rights management constraints currently in place, kill the corporations SUPPLYING the Digital rights management infrastructures, and the price would be 1/2 of what everyone is paying now and pirating music would almost GO AWAY.

Almost overnight the music industry positioned itself from the outside looking in. They were complacent when things were going good so when the paradigm shift occured they never seemed to see it coming. THAT PARADIGM SHIFT IS GOING DIGITAL, and people stopped using outdated formats like the CD more and more, with the emergence of MP3 players like the ipod. The Music industry's problem was that they were following an outdated business plan. It was a way of thinking that needed to be changed from the top down.

In terms of promotions and marketing...we are living in the age of "the 24 hour news cycle" where it is becoming increasingly difficult to stay relevant. There are new names and faces coming out every minute, from J. Holiday to Joe the Plumber lol. Every week there is another flavour and this is part of the reason for why singers like Mya, and Brandy, etc...are getting dropped from their labels left right and center. A short peruse of the Billboard 200 from time to time will show you that the landscape in music isn't what it used to be (sales are horrible). The labels are faced with contracted revenue streams (this limits who can be promoted and what type of resources can be put behind them). Thus, it is becoming a major battle to get attention from the marketing departments of these labels.

Lil wayne is the hottest thing going right now and he's only at 2 million units. With all the controversy of that song "I kissed a girl" by Kate Perry, the album for that single has not even went platinum yet and that was a huge song with over 5 million views on Youtube. In order to get a record deal in today's world one will need what I call "a real impact song" or what's called a "so what" record...i.e. In da club - 50 cent or "hit me baby one more time" - Brittany.

Keep in mind how controversial brittany's song was when it came out 10 years ago, she was only 16 years old singing those very suggestive lyrics and being in a lolita like video. Fast forward 10 years to today's declining morality and the shock value that people are resorting to to get attention and that song wouldn't even garner that much press now. I've even heard manager's tell me that these singers nowadays are actually acting badly on purpose, getting arrested in hollywood and doing it just so they can stay relevant and be on the news and get publicity. I'm not in any way trying to be negative, it's just important to realise the obstacles and to be aware of the scene for what it really is. My work is the work of finding opportunities and my team focuses on every avenue available for cross-market success. A record deal makes getting endorsement opportunities alot easier, but maintaining them in today's climate is the key.
