Japanese Designer AKM: Works with New Balance and Mita Sneakers

AKM is a Japanese men’s wear brand that puts focus on craftsmanship rather than branding. It’s carefully constructed items are well thought out and speaks for the brand compared to the current mainstream marketing driven brands. AKM have worked with many leather craftsmen in the past to produce jackets and outers but have since branched out to make other basic pieces.



Now they have extended outside the apparel genre and moved onto make their first collaboration sneaker with New Balance and mita sneakers. The all leather upper is not a surprise at all considering AKM’s brand history and the white and cream color combinati0n emphasize the premium feel of the CM576 sneaker. Small details such as cross stitching, patent leather, leather piping and wrinkled leather sets this model apart while still retaining the C-Cap and ENCAP for ultimate comfort for runners

Reminds you of that brand called Crocs, but different!!!

Based out of Canada, a brand called Native cleverly combines the classic sneaker with a footwear silhouette that looks comfortable. The slip-ons seen above are from they're upcoming Fall 2010 season. Our blog is proud of anything that is Canadian and innovative in design, they've got a wide range of colors and styles to choose from, so there should be something for everybody’s taste and needs. I personally see these shoes becoming popular among people in the medical field, the colors match the colors of scrubs worn by nurses, dental assistants etc.

Air Jordan Spiz’ike - “Grape” | Detailed Images

The Air Jordan 5 (V) “Grape” colorway was one of the original four colorways of the famed model originally released in 1990. When the retro was released in 2006 at select accounts, it was mayhem in some locations. Spike Lee was rocking this model courtside at the Garden, and it will now be available in April. The hybrid Spiz’ike model will don the “grape” colorway and it carries with it the embroidered “23″ on the heel. On this model, elephant print is on the heel and toe, patent appears on the underlay, and a newly-employed material–perforated leather–adorns the upper. Grape appears on the lacelocks and outsole. This may not capture the original essence of the Air Jordan V (5) that is now 20 years old, but it is an interesting take on the Spiz’ike.

Crooks & Castles - Spring/Summer 2010 Footwear

Crooks & Castles is the latest apparel brand to make their way into the footwear world (in a way looking alot like another Los Angeles based brand called 'The Hundreds'). They come in three colorways all using a canvas on the mid-cut upper which is placed on a vulcanized outsole.

Here is a look at one of their upcoming models that is scheduled to be delivered with their Spring/Summer 2010 Footwear Collection, the Redfoot.

SBTG & Methamphibian - Custom Sneakers for Source Beijing

The two sneaker customizers, SBTG and Methamphibian who began this whole customizing craze is back with some new projects especially for the opening of the new Source store in Beijing. There are two different projects here that is Damage Inc. and Varsity Bones. Both are totally separate projects which have been prepared for exclusive sale in Source. Damage Inc. is a project by Methamphibian and it crosses over with Methamphibian’s custom 12″ action figure line and will lead to the introduction of new figures in the near future. On the other hand Varsity Bones is the new chapter in SBTG’s collection of Dunks. There are two colorways available in Red Fury (red and black) and Sly Bones (black and purple) which will be produced to only 12 pairs for each model. All of these models will only be sold exclusively at Source in Beijing.
