The intimacy that people have with food is a ball and chain.

"Let your food be medicine and your medicine be food" - Hippocrates

I used to be a vegetarian, a few years ago, and the lifestyle change lasted for about 7 months. I attempted many times since, trying, failing and trying again. Instinctively I knew that food was what kept us alive longer or checked us out sooner. So like any novice in a field unfamiliar, I struggled, and my discipline with food took me on a journey through extremely restricted diets, marathon fasts and years of studying under natural healers (and not all of them were good teachers).

All of what I had to endure has helped me to NOW see food as medicine. This frame of mind frees me from most food addictions. So I'm not at all tempted when sitting in restaurants with friends eating burgers, steaks or triple chocolate cake. In fact, now I feel as if I'm Neo in the Matrix, as he's walking among the masses who are all doing the same thing, and you'll experience this feeling of "being in the world, but not being of it".

Changing the psychology of a person's relationship with food is very complex. I have observed a highly guarded level of intimacy people often have with food. The mere mention of removing certain foods from their diet is taken with great offense, denial or flat out refusal. Especially if the person is perceivably healthy, I'd understand there resistance to remove favorite foods from there diet...when by all accounts they look amazing.

None are more baffling to me then those who are sick, on medication for the rest of their lives, confined to a bed and still refusing to change their diets, it confounds me. Worse then those people even are the one's in total denial: those who believe that taking these lifetime meds means they've solved there health problem.

On the other side of the spectrum there are those few who walked away from a life-threatening disease by switching to a vegan diet. There are so many success stories. Did you know that after his heart surgery Former President, Bill Clinton became a vegan to improve his health? He's lost weight and looks healthier than he did when he was in office. Check it out for yourself on youtube (Bill Clinton became a vegan).

There is a cure for everything that afflicts us, just know that food is a huge part of it. Just know that there are good teachers and healers who are successfully producing results that would astound you, and know above all that it cannot be done without a transformation of the mind, and a negation of the habits indoctrinated into us almost from birth.

Quadrangle Architects: Design a concept for Toronto's Expressways

Via: designboom.com

Visiting bus stops and railway stations swarming with vehicles and passengers, is an inescapable curse that city people have to undergo each day. Offering a green and lively solution to the problem is Quadrangle Architects who have come up with a renovation project called “Green Ribbon” for the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto. Stretching in the span of seven kilometers, from downtown Toronto to the western suburbs, the Green Ribbon will not just uplift the surroundings but also make the expressway a worthy visiting place, which of course will be a blessing in disguise for the travelers.

Standing tall on the concrete columns, anchoring the roof structure, the linear park also provides separate pathways for pedestrian and cyclists. The visitors can have the access of the park at major intersections through ramps and stairways. Moreover, the expressway will possibly integrate wind turbines and photovoltaic panels to fulfill its energy requirements.

The DOT: is a hybrid of a cell-phone and an ear device

Via: Designer Cyrene Quiamco

Removing the unnecessary clutter of electronic devices from your bag, or pocket for that matter is what designer Cyrene Quiamco is interested in doing. She has devised a unique gadget that offers multiple services with hands-free comfort. She calls it The “DOT” and its a hybrid of a cell-phone and an ear device; that opens to reveal a second LCD screen for a more traditional cell-phone look. Featuring a bendable ear hook for comfort, the digital device projects a touch sensitive screen on hand, paper or wall, so you could dial numbers via a touch sensitive projection that would be displayed on your palm. You would be able to make or receive calls without removing the phone from your ear. Kinda Cool I thought!

Moreover, you'd be able to project a full internet page unto a piece of paper, or on a table or directly on a wall, giving you access to the internet anywhere, anytime. The bendable hook would attach safely on your purse strap, belt or even as a ring on your finger, making the device highly portable as well as functional for users on the go.

Don King selling his home...300 feet of ocean lol

Don King put his ocean front estate in Manalapan Florida up for grabs, saying that at his age (77 yrs) it's time to downsize. The compound sits on 3 acres and includes a main house and a guest house spread out over 32,000 square feet. The property comes with an 8ft replica of the Statue of Liberty in the front yard, 11 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms, 300 feet of waterfront on both sides and two resort-style pools, each with enough space for up to 80 people. There’s a 10-foot drop to the beach with automatic stairs that let you down when you’re on the sand, and lifts you back up when you’re at the house so that no one can come up from the ocean. Plus it has a generator plant for hurricanes. There's also an outdoor grill by one of the pools big enough for 100 slabs of ribs. King paid 13 million for the two lots in 1999 and is now asking for 27 million - that's a Nice Flip.

Let's see if the intrinsic value of his name helps to sell his house for his asking price...

The Rich are feeling the Pinch...

Many people would think that the very wealthy have nothing to fret about: because many of them have net Worth's ranging from the moderate $5 million to the mammoth $1 billion. A blip in the markets shouldn't be what sends their chateau-size Park Avenue co-ops to foreclosure or exile them to Payless Shoes. I know a few lawyer-friends and financial advisors, and some of them have told me that as of lately their days have become crammed seeing clients, all worried about how an economic downturn will affect their marriages. Their clients are concerned because their incomes have shrunk, say, to $2 million a year from $8 million, and they know that their 2008 bonus checks are likely to be much less impressive. It's a mentality unknown to many millions of middle class people but its a growing downward momentum for alot of wealthy people. When a person's net worth decreases to $8 million from more than $20 million a year, they may start thinking that their wives will leave them. They may start hiding their fall from fortune by taking on debts to pay for the extravagant clothes and family vacations.

The wealthy don’t generally speak publicly about their finances, in good times or bad. It’s in poor taste, for one, and their employers could fire them for talking even a little. But people who provide services to the wealthy — lawyers, art advisers, personal trainers and hairstylists — are getting an earful about their clients’ financial anxieties. It would seem as if everyone is living on less than they did a year ago, regardless of how expansive the definition of “less” may be.

The top execs for GM, Ford and Chrysler took luxurious private jets to Washington to make their case that the auto industry is running out of cash and needs $25 billion. Wagoner's private jet trip to Washington cost his ailing company an estimated $20,000 round trip when compared to what it would have cost him, first class on Northwest Airlines - $837.00. Despite their reluctance to save money, private jet rental companies say the wealthy ARE cutting back on luxuries like $10,000-an-hour jet rentals.

Sean Combs is grounding his private jet because of the extravagant cost of fuel. It could cost about $250K for two round trips between New York and Los Angeles. Sean Combs, who juggles a Hollywood career with a thriving clothing business and other ventures in New York, thinks that's just too much...and rightly so. This change in habit comes from a multi-millionaire, who was listed number 33 on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list. These financial problems — if they can be called that — will hardly elicit tears from the rest of us. But in those extravagant living rooms, there is a quiet nervousness about keeping up appearances.

The only one who may not be feeling the pinch is the Sultan of Brunei who sleeps comfortably when he flies in his private jet cabin (pictures above). His fortune is well over $55 billion...and Oh, he has two wives, so he's not worrying about probable divorce lol. I understand that he owns the McLaren F1 racer, a vehicle that was previously assumed to only exist in racing video games.

What a Life...

The Pooch Palace - A $475,000 dog house

I might wanna get a dog one day...but Jeez!!!

This Dog-house is designed by British architect Andy Ramos, and this residence will shelter a pair of Great Danes belonging to a surgeon, whose own luxurious house is being constructed nearby.

A three-room dog house (two bedrooms and a lounge) outfitted with temperature-controlled sheepskin beds, a spa, an expensive hi-fi system, and a 52-inch plasma television set (because dogs watch TV). A retina scan at the entrance will enable the owner to keep out dogs who might try to pay unauthorized visits. Closed-circuit TV cameras will provide the owner with round-the-clock surveillance of the dogs' comings and goings between their house and their adventure playground.

If you think there is nothing wrong with constructing a dog house for half a million dollars, I certainly could never convince you otherwise. Below are some examples of Dog-houses I thought were fly enough for me and my budget...lol

A Spanish Villa style Dog-house...lol

A bit more on the luxury side, a matching Dog-house.

Don't hate if this dog's house is better than yours...lol
