This Mixtape has been long awaited for and highly anticipated. JD ERA is one of Toronto's foremost gifted lyricists and in this effort he laces up 13 new tracks. The Mixtape has features from Freddie Gibbs, Drake, Saukrates and production from Boi-1da, Don Cannon, and Beat Merchant. The art work conveys a morbid and haunting imagery, in association to the brand it sponsors called The Villains Lair which you should check out as well. In the meantime...check out the music from 1 to 13.

What’s in the CD Changer? JD ERA feat Drake "Black Magic" (Oldie but a Goodie)

These rappers could arguably be the best two MC's to come out of Toronto right now; that being Drake and JD ERA. They both did a track together in solidarity for JD ERA's Coming to America Mixtape, and this joint has been in circulation since last year; so it isn't new to us Torontonians, but it deserved a re-post for all of you Americans and Drake-fans worldwide as a re-introduction to Drake right before his incredible fan-fare fire-started. JD ERA is a rapper to take notice of (he's the first one GOING IN on this track), his lyricism is not to be slept on.

So I went to the Cathouse at the Guvernment Nightclub in Toronto for the 2000 Til party hosted by JD ERA and The Kid Famous along with DJ Starting From Scratch and P+Plus. And it was a celebration with my homies who've seen me labor through this management stuff in this music business for a minute, and I had a good time. Then I went out to Revival for the Shuffle Party with Anaya Hayes and company...and it was a dope vibe there to.

Dr Dre - The Detox, Toronto Rappers Drake and JD ERA - Music I wanna hear in 2009

If you didn't think rap music could speak to your intellect anymore while making you bounce, then just input the words "smart rappers" into your GPS - it will lead you to where the flow is a bit colder on the map, yep...Toronto Canada. I will say this a million times to hip hop heads all over the world, Toronto has talent (and I LIVE IN T-DOT).

Toronto's JD ERA (rising star)...has a new (EP) album coming out soon, and it's supposed to be called "The Take Off" and that's scheduled for some time in February. My prediction is that it will be a solid all around album (with features that will propel this artist to new heights). Through him I can see the Toronto rap scene growing and hip hop benefiting in general...LOOK out for his new video when it drops.

DRAKE SEASON


Drake just signed an impressive management deal with the superstar team of Gee Roberson and Kyambo “Hip Hop” Joshua (who manages Kanye West), and Cortez Bryant (who handles Lil’ Wayne). He’ll kick off ‘09 touring North America with Weezy, hitting Toronto on Jan, 15th. His upcoming mixtape is called So Far Gone, and his debut album will be called Thank Me Later, and its due out later this year.

Dr Dre - He's such a perfectionist...


Detox is supposed to be the upcoming third and final studio album by rapper and record producer Dr. Dre. It was originally due for a 2004 release, but was not completed because Dr. Dre wanted to concentrate on producing for artists that were on his Aftermath Entertainment record label. We might see it in 2009...
