Obama is a cult following: Is any politician worth getting a tattoo?

Hmmmm...the first African-American president, OK...he is certainly a symbol of a high point in American history, but is any politician worth getting a tattoo? What if he starts doing things like pushing old women down stairs and running over kittens in a monster truck on the White House lawn? What will be of your Obama tattoo at that point lol? Regardless, there are apparently plenty of people who think that putting Obama’s face on their skin for life is a good idea.

Obama's "HOPE" Artist: Shepard Fairey was sentenced in Boston Municipal Court
Via: breitbart.com

BOSTON (AP) – The artist who created the “Hope” poster of President Barack Obama has been sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to three vandalism charges in Boston. Prosecutors dropped 11 other charges.
Shepard Fairey was sentenced in Boston Municipal Court on Friday to two years probation. He pleaded guilty to one charge of defacing property and two charges of wanton destruction of property under $250. He must pay $2,000 to a graffiti removal organization and cannot possess tagging materials except for legal art installations.
Fairey’s spokesman released a statement saying the 39-year-old artist is pleased to have the case behind him and “return his attention to making art.” Boston prosecutors earlier dropped 14 charges that claimed Fairey placed stickers on public property.

Obama used "social networking" to win the Presidency: This is how he did it
Via: Guardian.co.uk

David Plouffe, campaign manager for the 2008 Obama campaign, spills the beans on how Obama managed to win the White House. The answers may surprise you:
“We did have a big Facebook presence and MySpace. When we started, Twitter wasn’t really around, it was at the end. The real drivers were old school, email and web [traditional websites for the campaign]. We did build a social networking [presence] but it was web and email.” Greater details at the link above the picture...

Barack's NCAA College Picks (WTF) Shouldn't he be fixing the Economy?

I saw this a couple of days ago...thought it was kinda cool how the President wants to be the personable, approachable common everyday man...but he's doing the kinds of things a candidate does (most of the world already likes you by default, now that Bush is gone). I dunno...I think he should do less of this Hollywood thing and focus more on the financial shit-storm that's about to come and not worry about this hoopla...that's just my opinion...GET TO WORK and find out how you can get all of those bonuses back from those grubby AIG execs you just paid off handsomely. To think you can give them billions but you can't rope those sons of bitches in and hold them acccountable is beyond me? Poli-tricks...lol

The Twitter elite made a special visit to the White House

The Twitter elite made a special visit to the White House on Friday, when site founder and CEO Evan Williams (@ev) joined a summit for 20 young business to owners share new ideas to stimulate the economy. Considering Twitter hasn’t made money yet, Williams himself seemed a little in disbelief about the whole thing...

Michelle Obama To Appear On Vogue Cover
Via: BBC

President Barack Obama's wife Michelle is the cover girl for the March edition of fashion magazine Vogue.
Michelle Obama is only the second American First Lady, first was Hilary Clinton in 1998, who has taken the place of a model on a Vogue cover. She chose her own outfits for the photographs and said she knew her wordrobe was under scrutiny. In the cover portrait, she wears a magenta silk dress designed by Jason Wu. Mrs. Obama's sense of style has proved to be influential. When she dressed her family in clothes from J. Crew on inauguration day, the company's shares increased 10 percent, and I'm sure that wasn't part of the newly passed stimulus package lol.

Obama x Run DMC fusion (Run DC T-Shirt)

This is dope...I want one.
In the spirit of this T-Shirt (above) I found a vintage live performance by DJ Jazzy Jeff, and it opens up with a Run DMC intro, catalogued and filed from back in 1989...and you could tell by how he cuts up the records. It's pretty dope to hear how Hip Hop was spun back in "my day". If you appreciate the essence of Hip Hop history, then you'd be transported back in time with this very rare set by DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Obama in wax by Madame Tussauds
What do you guys think? I think that Obama's pigmentation is a bit off in this picture...lol...or maybe he just didnt get enough sun on his recent trip to Hawaii lol. This picture is a wax figure of Obama created by Madame Tussauds in London, and it's a bit whitened by my eye anyway lol, why are they trying to michael jackson him slowly but surely? The light tinge of freckles in this wax personification is funny though. Atleast the hair came out right...lolhttp://www.madametussauds.com

Marvel Comics - Brand New - Obama issue of Spiderman
He's expected to save the world in real life politics, and whether he'll be able to do what he's promised is a matter of debate, but he's definitely gonna move an unprecedented number of comic books off the shelf in what will become a special collectors edition, The Inaugural Special edition of Spiderman. The incoming President, who is a self-confessed Spiderman fan, will feature in a bonus story in which Peter Parker spots an Obama imposter at the President’s inauguration (which takes place on the 20th of January). “Parker decides the future president’s gonna need Spider-Man,” and will use basketball to determine the real Obama. The new comic, will be released on the 14th of January in America.NOTE: How much larger Obama's image is in contrast to Spiderman, the question dawns on me, whose helping to market who? The pop-cultural power being attributed to this president will forever chisel him into the minds of people everywhere. And it would seem as if there is a steal for the minds and hearts of young people especially. Hopefully all of this built-up admiration and momentum will be used for positive aims. I guess you can say Barack is stimulating the economy already, weren't comic book sales down from previous years?

Has Barack Obama changed the face of Marketing?

As Obama prepares for his inauguration as the nation’s 44th president in January, there is some talk among Ad executives about how the swearing-in of Obama could change advertising to and about African Americans. When you think of Barack Obama - the word that rolls off of everyone's tongue is historic. And I agree with it, it was a historic election. To have a black family in the white house is a momentous achievement because 40 years ago it would have been considered unthinkable.
So somethings happened to the country in 40 years, the extensive and long-winded movements of the last 4 decades enabled a candidate of mixed heritage to win the presidency. You can be sure that marketers who specialize in multi-cultural campaigns are being asked about the next wave in marketing approaches geared towards people of color.
“Obama for President” billboard
Xbox 360 racing game Burnout Paradise

To my knowledge, this Obama ad is far and away the most prominent use of a major online game to promote a presidential candidate’s campaign. After years of bleak advertising campaigns that haven't done much in the way of capturing the imagination beyond the usual template of euro-centric imagery, some in Hollywood say Obama will inspire an era of optimism. Presidents like JFK swayed pop culture with his youthful optimism, and it is my feeling that this trend will grow even more exponentially under an Obama administration.

I'm calling it "Obama Branding" (anything that is racially inclusive is "Obama Branding" - branding with race without being racially focused) and Obama himself simply did what all marketing should do: communicate with critical mass, and plan that your target consumer segments will embrace the inclusive message. Obama faced brand challenges and continued to build effectual engagement. He has never branded the construct of race-based marketing. Correspondingly, that is the one thing the advertising world can learn. Moreover, "Obama Branding" projects a spiritual theme, family values, and global peace. The guess is, if Team McCain had woven those themes into their brand, they could also have had greater - positive - public opinion, and donations. Critical mass America invested in the Obama Brand by voting for him. The advertising sector has a lot to learn about both local consumer outreach, and global brand messaging.

The Fight is almost Over

I've written quite alot on my blog about American Politics; mainly because what happens in America has alot to do with how the rest of the world will react, and it is of some interest to me because it is the world's most publicized fake-democracy.

Why Do I call it Fake?
Here's my Answer: Every four years approximately half of all eligible voters (the other half has the good sense to stay home) head to the polls to engage in what amounts to little more than the political version of the “Taste Test Challenge.”

Their choices: Coke or Pepsi, and like ubiquitous soft-drinks, the Republicans’ and the Democrats’ primary goal is to gain as many loyal consumers as possible. Many voters have been chugging their brand of choice for decades; others may have just started, and a few may have even switched brands along the way. Of course, as with any established product, there are times – oh, about every four years or so – when the public begins to grow dissatisfied. They discover that New Coke doesn’t taste as good as the old version, and that Pepsi One doesn’t quite measure up as advertised. Fortunately, there’s always a slightly revised version – Now there's Pepsi Jazz or Coca-Cola Zero – fresh off the corporate assembly line designed to excite and entice the masses once again. Well at least for four more years – or until the public realizes that despite all the glitter, slogans, and hype surrounding the latest drink, they are still consuming nothing more than carbonated water and corn syrup.

As you all might already know, we are 4 days away from America's electoral politics being over; and this will usher in the next 4 years of transformative world changes. Obama is the new brand of President...he's new, he's fresh, he's a "change" from the same old crowd in washington, and he's an upgrade in rhetorical ability from the previous cowboy talking George W Bush. He's a striking contrast from the lame John Mccain who says "Unlike Obama, I dont have to be tested my friend". Is John Mccain talking some shit or what...It wouldn't matter how many years he's done in the senate...fact is he's never been president before so he'd be just as under the microscope as the last guy, every president is tested in that office because the challenges of the last 4 years will differ from those faced in the next administration. But as usual Americans keep chuggin down their brand of choice and they'll go right back to a previous brand after Obama, make no mistake about that.

LMAO!!!
