Mastermind JAPAN x Casio G-shock Frogman: Chills down my spine, sooo Dope

Continuing G-shock's ever growing list of collaborative projects, mastermind JAPAN is the latest Japanese brand to take on the popular Frogman model. Featuring subtle branding on the face, the watch includes signature skull-logos on the backlight, reverse plate and box. Including all the usual technical features of the Frogman, Mastermind has opted for a solid all-black-everything colorway. The chunky watch is limited to just 200 pieces and was only officially released at the Ron Herman Futago-Tamagawa flagship store, though you can pick one up at the link above the top picture.

Collaborative Fashion: WTAPS and Supreme

WTAPS and Supreme fans are in for a treat this season with a late Christmas drop by both brands. Their collection includes a reversible varsity jacket. The Varsity Jacket is a staple item for the Winter in the streets and this version is constructed with a blend of melton wool and cotton keeping it warm and lightweight. Being a reversible design turns this jacket from classy to flashy in a minute resulting from one side being a simple red or navy colorway while the other is accessorized with emblems and numbering on the chest. The jackets will be available on December 29th in the US and January 2nd in Japan.

Rocawear, apparently. He recently sat down with WWD to discuss his new blueprint for the brand, amongst other things:

His biggest challenge, he said, has been the ability to grow the women’s side of the business — but that’s a challenge he’s attacking head-on. “It’s been tough with the growth of fast-fashion retailers out there like H&M and Forever 21,”

he said. “It’s made things really difficult for the women’s side of the business. That, paired with the closings of so many specialty stores in this economy, we are still trying to figure out what to do. It’s hurt us a lot.”

But, Carter said, he is determined to rise above the challenges. With the music business, he said, executives were blindsided by technology and didn’t know what to do when downloads became more popular than CD stores. He doesn’t want to see the apparel industry — especially Rocawear — get blindsided by competition from fast-fashion retailers.

“It’s difficult to make jeans digital, so I’m not so worried about technology getting ahead of us,” he quipped. “But there are certainly a number of challenges we have to meet as a fashion brand.”
